The lathe has been prepared for use by cleaning off the protective oil layers (although there is some residual cosmetic oil staining of some surfaces – please review photos), fitting new vee belts on the primary drive to the countershaft and secondary drive from the countershaft to the spindle, plus a new wiper felt and spindle lubricating wick have have been fitted and all the oil nipples have been replaced, except for part no 65001 which has been inspected to ensure it is free of oil residues.Īlso included with this lathe are the following items … It is also fitted with imperial dials to the cross slide, top slide and leadscrew hand wheel. It is powered by a single phase 550W 1425RPM 220-240V motor by Tyco Electronics Crompton Electric motors, and the Myford 60/056 switch unit allows forward and reverse operation. Since the original purchase, this lathe has been kept under a Myford protective cover in a dry workshop, with the bed and other key surfaces covered with ample quantities of protective oil. As was the way with how Myford lathes were sold, the choice of motor was an option, and for this lathe it wasn’t until October 2006 that the purchaser then bought a motor at a Myford ‘open house’ at their factory in Beeston, along with the stand, tray, splash guard and riser blocks.

It bears the serial number SK126776 and was delivered new to its purchaser on 26 July 1976. Incredibly, this is a Myford Super 7 lathe with power cross feed that has never previously been used.
